Each shackle is designed to be locked on with a small padlock to close the large hinged cuff (padlocks not included, sold separately below), and each pair is connected by several welded strong chain links. The steel feels great against your skin and that combined with the weight really makes you feel helpless - which you are in these! You're locked in until your keyholder says you can be set free.
